MORE NEAT STUFF THAT YOU DON'T NEED BUT BUY ANYWAY
If you're from the west and old enough, you remember running across the desert with a couple of these full of water and hanging from the bumper guards or radio antenna base. My dad always carried three for us.
Look very closely at this: it's a bicycle. See the wheel in back and peeking out from behind the plaque under the amplifier. The mikes are the handle bars and the pedals are flat picks. I saw the guy driving it around the grounds at one point. Pretty wild and a helluva lot of work. Would be fun to ride to the market and raise eyebrows.
Quarter midgets: one of these would fit in any living room. Hmmmmm!
I love the oddball stuff you find in these swap meets: this is one of the very earliest Lionel train transformers.
Not a lot of folks recognized this and even fewer would be interested in it: an electric cream separator.
My theory about getting the best buy at stuff when they are out of context and in the wrong kind of venue is shown here. The Singer is $80 here and could be had for $60. One in this condition would be two or three times that in an antique swap meet. The table, which is really nice oak is $50 and would be four times that in an antique store.
The bolt is 2 inches in diameter. Would make great paperweights, if my desk could support them.
Everyone is looking for odd seats for their rat rods. Bucket seats and tractor seats abound. Why not this. Couldn't find my initials carved in it. I probably sat in the one ahead of it.
"Calling Jed Clampett: you're double parked and about to get towed."
That middle mill was nearly four inches in diameter. Think how much horsepower it takes to turn something like that? Damn!
Whizzer City. The Simplex on this side would look good hanging on a living room wall.
This took a seriously big source of heat. Even a forge would have to be big to handle it. Great for a rat rod, but I wonder how much the geometry would have to be tweeked to make it work. Plus, it'll be pretty narrow. Still, it's a really innovative idea.
Ah, come on! Gimme a break!
